Situations When Someone May Require A Medical Flight For Emergency Care

by Joann Dunn

Emergency transportation is a vital part of a good healthcare plan, but there is one form of medical transportation that can sometimes mean the difference between life and death — medical flight escort services. There are certain medical situations that can arise that will require immediate attention to the problem, and getting someone to the proper care providers as fast as possible is a critical thing. Here are three of those situations.

You may need a medical flight if you are having a heart attack.

When you are having a heart attack, one of your coronary arteries is blocked, which means the nutrient-rich blood that the heart should be getting is not pumping through. This situation can cause part of the heart to actually die, which is a dangerous situation. As soon as a heart attack starts taking place, the faster you can get to a cardiologist to open up the blocked artery, the less likely it will be that your heart experiences severe damage or cell death. Therefore, calling for a medical flight is usually a necessary thing.

You may need a medical flight if you have a blood clot.

Blood clots are a serious medical condition and they should be immediately addressed by a team of medical professionals, regardless of whether the clot is discovered in the lungs, heart, or somewhere else in the circulatory system. Blood clots will block the flow of blood through the particular area of the body where the clot is located, which can prevent the amount of blood getting returned to the heart to pump back through the circulatory system. If the clot is not taken care of fast with the proper treatments, it can be a life-threatening situation.

You may need a medical flight if you have had a stroke.

When someone is having a stroke, it is critical for that person to get to the proper care providers as quickly as possible. A stroke is caused by lacking blood flow to the brain, which means the brain is not getting sufficient oxygen to properly function and support the normal bodily functions. If this situation persists, you are at more risk of having permanent damage to certain parts of your brain that can affect things like speech, motor skills, organ function, and more. Getting the person who is having a stroke on a medical flight can mean the difference in how much damage is done to their body.

About Me

Pregnant? What You Need to Know About Your Pregnancy

During my first pregnancy, I spent a lot of time pushing pillows behind my back trying to find comfort. As the size of the baby grew, so did my discomfort. By the time she was born, I was more than ready to give birth. When I found out I was pregnant again, I was determined that I would not suffer through the same discomforts. I started researching ways to ease the symptoms of pregnancy, including back pain. I created this blog to help other expectant moms find remedies to deal with those symptoms that can be emotionally and physically draining.
